Camp Nano July 2013

Hi All, sorry it’s been so long. Been busy with life.

The main topic today is Camp Nanowrimo for July 2013. If you haven’t heard of it before, it is where writers from all over the world write a novel in a month. Nanowrimo in November is the main event, while the two camps which I believe are in April and July are a bit more relaxed on the word count.

I’ve set my target at 30,000 words, so far I have written 11K words, so I am on target, so what is this story about and what has happened so far?

The book is called “The Adventures of the Last Simicaí”, this is just a temporary title until I have completed the book, if I create a sequel then that will be the name of the series. But I probably won’t make one until next year’s Nanos. This November I’m hoping to return to The Unbroken book I was writing last November. Anyway back to the subject of the current book. It follows the adventures of Kenneth, a Simicaí which is a cross between a human and a monkey. They basically have a tail and are far more agile than humans and a bit shorter. So they are undistinguishable from humans when in clothing. So far in the book Ken has been sent to train at the local forest archery range to train so that he can go save his friend and the person that they were with when a wizard appeared.

I will try to keep an update at least once a week, this will hopefully motivate me to hit the target long before the end of the month.

Windows, DS, Manga and All Things Awesome

Uh Oh, I didn’t do a post on Tuesday. Whoops! Well let’s get started then.

Windows 8/New Netbook

I’m currently typing this on my brand new netbook, it’s the HP one with the Beat by Dre Audio addition. I can’t really tell the difference between its sound and other laptops, but it makes the netbook look pretty good, so can’t complain. It’s the first time I’ve used the new Windows 8 OS, and I am very impressed. Everything is aimed at tablets, which makes the user interface simple and easy to use. It keeps you a safe distance away from the important parts, which is very good for me, otherwise I’d break it like the last one. But I won’t be posting a review for a while, not until I’ve had at least a month’s worth of use out of it anyways.

3DS/Monster Hunter

This has been a very big distraction for me, as I’ve tried to improve my drawing skills, Monster Hunter Tri then Ultimate, came along and took away my focus. It’s an amazing game, the focus is on killing or capturing monsters either to save some people or to gain ingredients or money. The ingredients can be used to make potions, useable items, weapons and armour. You spend a great deal of it trying to get the next weapon/armour upgrade that sometimes you get so lost in it you forget to hunt monsters. Luckily most of the parts for them are made out of monster body parts. I’ve spent at least 40 hours on the game already, and playing with Amy and a mate from work makes it even more fun.

Manga/Fullmetal Alchemist

So much for improve my drawings, the damn paper ran out, which meant I was stuck for a week without any drawing. Luckily my wonderful fiancée got me a new pad of paper. I haven’t drawn anything yet, but will start as soon as this post is done. Another wonderful bonus is she also got me book 4 of Fullmetal Alchemist. It is amazing, I love the drawings and the action is so intense. It takes a while to get used to the right-to-left reading direction, but once you do it is enjoyable. I cannot wait for the next book to come out, but no idea when it will be released.

That’s all folks speak soon!!!!

Woo, get out the champagne and all the other party essentials. I’ve hit 100 posts. Took me a few years, but we’re finally here.

I expected to make a post yesterday, but life has gotten in the way again… Well Monster Hunter, it is very addictive. At least 24 hours have now been logged on that game. And that will only be a tiny part of the actually amount I will continue to play.

So what has happened in the past 100 posts?

The main event was meeting my fiancée Amy and deciding to spend the rest of our lives together. I definitely believe that was the greatest decision I have ever made.

The second and no less important event, is that I became a dad, to Amelia. She is the most wonderful and intelligent person I have met. And cannot wait to see what she will be like in a few years.

The least important event, is that I’ve gone back to drawing woo! It’s so nice to be able to properly do some drawings for once.

So it has been pretty good so far, can’t wait to see the next 100. See you there!

Not a very meaningful post this time around. I normally have these blog posts completed a week in advanced. However, I have been very busy with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, plus family life. Will be making a proper post next week. Bye!

The Beginnings of a New Series

After finishing off a piece of my old artwork that I had drawn a few years ago. I decided to turn it into a new Manga strip called Heretic.

The base plot of it is, three friends (Practically siblings) are charged with protecting the High King, when they turn 18. However, this never occurs as the king is killed not long after their 16th birthdays. Now with the empire in turmoil, it us up to them to reunite the land under one banner and avenge the death of their mentor.

I’ve drafted my first piece see below. I hope to have the proper version out this week.

ALMA + A Corridor = Scarey Scene

F.E.A.R the game on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 was amazing. Walking through various dark alleys and corridors anticipating Alma appearing around the corner. It had so much suspense and was amazing. The only downside was the graphics, they were behind with the times. Though graphics don’t make the game, it was the horror factor which worked.

This has inspired me to do various fan art creations. One such piece was actually my most favourited, commented and viewed of all my art. It was a simple image of Alma and a small poem. See below for that piece.

I was quite suprised how popular it was, and still am. This was made in 2011, and I still get the odd view, comment or favourite. Now below is my latest creation which was completely done by me, no copy and pasting. Just a pencil, pen, paper and photoshop was needed to create it, I’m pretty happy with it. But I doubt it will create as much buzz as the one above.

Hi all, I have not been on here in months. Mainly because life has taken hold of me and because keeping to a daily routine was far more difficult than I thought. So what has happened? Well I’m now getting married in July, cannot wait. I am still in the same job.

So apart from the wedding, the title is about something else. I am back on deviantArt, and have actively posted a few creations in the past two weeks I will be posting all my images on there; however I will post some work in progress pieces on here.

I will be updating this every Tuesday, however it will not be at a set time. I hope to get the post completed on Monday and submit at 12:00 GMT the following day. Speak to you all soon.
