Yesterday, on the way to work I was thinking about my novel, The Last Simicaí, when a new idea came to me. It would change the book a bit, but it would enable me to release at least another two books in the same timeline, which was exciting. The first book is quite impersonal and the battles fought will be mostly external. But the second and third book will be focusing on the characters’ relationships with each other. The fact that it tackles relationships is both an exciting and scary prospect.

Progress (Or lack of…)

The first novel is slowly shaping up, I have a rough idea for the next twenty chapters. But for the actual ending I have no idea. The main character will have to be developed more in the second draft and so will all the conversations and possibly any fights. Also one particular location is getting an overhaul. The ranger camp currently has two large tents surrounded by a archery range to the south and woods all the way around. The problem with this is that moving two large tents around (Large as in the size of a town hall) would be very difficult. Instead I’m just going to have various tents and the tavern will be as mobile as possible which will add a bit more realism.

The Biggest Change

So here we are, finally the change I have made which will affect the novel greatly and all sequels is the main character’s species. Originally he was going to be half man, half monkey. But after getting so far in the book, it became irrelevant so I will be removing it from the novel completely. The main character will be an average human, albeit having to do many battles and being extremely lucky. Since the species has been removed, the actual world will be named Simicaí. At some point I will draw a map of the land. I’m hoping to have the first book’s first draft completed by November. As in November I will participate in Nanowrimo with the second book in the series. Hopefully for once I will complete my target goal, so far this year I have been catastrophically behind.

Well see you all in the next post.
